Yesterday I went back to Palacio Clavijero to take some pictures of an exhibit from Javier Marin's sculptures. This art show opened last month and will close on early October. It also officially inaugurated the Palacio Clavijero as an exhibition space (more on that later on).
Javier Marin is an artist born in Uruapan, Michoacan (Uruapan is my home state second largest city) in 1962. He is a well renowned sculptor that has shown is work in very prestigious art events (like the Venezia Biennal). It's a great opportunity for us Morelians to see part of his work in such a marvelous setting.

In the upper west wing of the Palacio is located the main exhibit (some sculptures are set in the patio). Overall, the museography is very good, it certainly magnifies the experience (as it should).
The space is filled with sculptures that appear to be floating in a way (well, actually some of his sculptures literally do). Marin's sculptures tend to be lifesize like, although there's a small, more intimate part of the exhibit dedicated to miniatures. Javier Marin used resin and metal for the pieces shown here. More details about the artist can be found at his very own website, http://www.javiermarin.com.mx
All in all, I was very much impressed by Javier Marin. I present in the following pages a selection of the sculptures shown in the exhibit, as well as a small description of the Palacio Clavijero, one of Morelia's most beautiful buildings (ans a personal favorite of mine).
